So you have decided to take your fitness level to the next step - Gym! You certainly need to know the “Unsaid” etiquettes of working out in the gym. These are things you are just supposed to know. No gym will put this list on its walls. Remember, you will be sharing the space and equipment with others, so ensure you get your act right.
 
To adjust in any new gym, particularly the weight-lifting area can be a daunting task. It’s necessary to feel comfortable in gym to speed up your fitness process. Here are few useful tips to make your life easier in the gym.
 
 
Proper attire  
Do not wear extra tight or extra loose clothes. Always wear those clothes that you are comfortable in. Avoid wearing ripped or torn clothing, as it can easily get caught in machines.
 
 
Wipe after use 
Once you are in the gym, one thing you can always be sure of is sweat. Thus, keeping the hygiene mannerism in mind, do wipe down benches and equipment after you are done using them. Most gyms provide antibacterial spray bottles and towels for this purpose. If not, then you should carry your own sweat towel for it.
 
 
Cologne puhleez
Many people or rather most of them make this mistake of drenching themselves in cologne before going to the gym. Reality check- Cologne + Sweat = Air Pollution. If you don’t use cologne, probably the person right next to you will have to encounter the smell of your sweat, but if you use one, then the whole gym will have to suffer.
 
 
Re-rack after use 
Once you are done working out, always remember to return bars and dumbbells to their appropriate location. This has to be done for the precautionary measures as well as a courtesy to others. With a lot of equipment in the gym, it is at times not easy to figure out where particular equipment is placed, unless it’s been placed appropriately. So for you and for others to workout with ease, do place them back to their allotted location. Another reason behind it is that if these equipments are left on the floor, someone may trip over them and get injured. Thus, re-racking weights after usage becomes all that more important.
 
 
Never hang around 
If you are done working out, make a move and get out of the gym. Do not socialize on the gym floor, or on the equipment. Let the ones after you have full advantage of the space and equipment.
 
 
Know where you stand
This part becomes tricky, especially during the peak gym hours. Well you wouldn’t wanna be in the path of a lifter doing lateral raises with 60 kgs or more. Thus, placement becomes all that more important. Another thing you should avoid is, coming between another lifter and the mirror, as these mirrors are important for a lifter to assess proper form and technique. Last but not the least, you shouldn’t choose any position that makes it difficult for the others to reach out for the rack of weights or other equipment.
 
 
Working-out coordination  
If you are doing more than one set of any particular exercise, make sure you leave the machine or bench in between sets. It happens so often as we get too much indulged in our workout that we don’t realize that there are others waiting to use these machines or equipment. Thus, coordinate well, do one set, let the other person do his set and then it’s your turn again!
 
 
These were few basic gym etiquettes that one should know and adhere by. The right way of exercising in the gym is, while you work hard to achieve your person goals, create an environment where everyone else can accomplish their goals too. Remember and stick to all the above given etiquettes and you will never face any embarassments in the gym.

These are so true... such a piss off when plp don't adhere to some of these.. like re-racking the weights and coming in between lifters and the mirror.
