Plotline
It takes one to know another. Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) asks prison convict Reggie Hammond (Eddie Murphy) to help him find two robbers who have escaped from the prison. The two can’t stand each other and worse, they have only 48 hours to solve the crime. Watch if they swallow their inhibitions and complete the task at hand.

Behind the Scene
While shooting for the scene where Denise Crosby hits Eddie Murphy in the stomach with a rubber baseball bat prop, Murphy was afraid Crosby would actually hit him instead of stopping about a foot away like all staged movie blows. Despite demonstrating her control on both Walter Hill and Nick Nolte she ended up hitting him anyway during a take.


Xpert Opinion
One of the first and best buddy-cop movies made ever. No other movie could ever come close to 48 hrs and reach the standards set by Murphy and Nolte. The plot is boring and predictable. It is the dialogues and acting that is fresh. The movie is funny with Murphy at his flamboyant best. It has all the thrill elements that a cop movie should have and humor interspersed at the right places. One of my all time favorite movies that can be watched and enjoyed time and again.
