KP Singh’s story is not that of fortitude alone but a lot of risk-taking too .Almost whimsical risk-taking. He realized the plan of a township when he had only 25 acres of land-holdings. The task was to convince every farmer to allot him land and act as his banker. Payment of interest was made on the third of every month at 10 p.m. His father-in-law’s goodwill and no litigation helped to expedite his path to an unusual success story. Today, DLF is the largest real estate player in India.

Power-Play

KP Singh’s power- play comes from his thirst for more. At 75, he thinks that India needs 10 more DLFs. Here’s what one DLF is for those who don’t know- a land bank of 3000 acres with a 10-mile-wide township called DLF City in Gurgaon. This tech city prides on restaurants, schools, offices, hospitals and an 18-hole signature golf course. However, Singh’s dream to make life luxurious for the middle-class does keep one question out of sight: What about those below the poverty-line? And like his wealth, they too are increasing exponentially.
