Name: Himesh Reshammiya

Age: 34

Country: India

Category: Music

Calling: Music Composer / Singer

The Beginning

Sada Himesh was born on 23rd July 1973 to a Gujurati Movie director. It was estimated that his nostrils had a radius of one inch at birth and whenever he was hungry or wanted to do ‘pee-pee’ he didn’t shout or cry but snorted all his digestive juices from his stomach. His brother’s untimely death encouraged him to take up music direction as a profession. He started his career at the startlingly young age of 16 later befriending the neurotic Prisoner Number ‘343’ Salman Khan, doing a spate of films for him. Entered his musical braying and an India reeling from Anu Mallik’s lifted tunes and the sudden demise (not of the body) of the brilliant Kumar Sanu mistook it for musical genius. He collaborated on many Emraan Hashmi films scoring the musical bulls-eye with Aashiq Banaya Naak Ne (oops Aap Ne)

Rise

Himesh’s rise is mostly attributed to his close links with Salman Khan and his loyalty towards him. Ready to start small by composing select songs for Salman–Khan starrer movies, Himesh slowly evolved a decent body of work including films such as Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya, and the musical smash-hit ‘Tere Naam’. Post the Hashmee collaboration Himesh has done several movies and even starred in his own biopic ‘ Aap Ka Suroor’ that set the cash registers ringing more for knowing what lay under his cap than to know his acting prowess. My guess - a detached vocal chord?

Power-Play

One of the most hated celebrities in India, Himesh knows the pulse of this fickle generation. Manufacturing one tune after another like a toothpaste brand, Himesh’s tunes can be heard blasting out of theatre speakers, discotheques, home-theatres, and even a Panwallah’s shop. His innovative mix of heady romantic tunes with techno and pop has made him the reincarnation of R.D. Burman. He is one of the most sought-after celebrities in India and charges phenomenally for his organized Band-Baaja in exotic, foreign locales.
