Not that cardiovascular exercises are a waste, but their results are really as slow as their pace. There is no point wasting time over those long and slow calorie burning cardio workouts, especially when there are much better options.
 
Peddling away endlessly on a stationary bike is time consuming and doesn’t really give satisfactory results. There is no intensity involved in that exercise, thus making it a poor choice to burn off love handles. You got to do immensely intense, shorter and less frequent workouts in order to lose those love handles and get those flat dashboard like abs. Our muscles require high intensity exercises for growth and anything that can be easily done is just waste of time.
 
In fact you can use your own “bodyweight” to burn fat and get a toned body. There are various bodyweight exercises that are much more effective than cardio in burning fat and increasing muscle mass. Bodyweight exercises are much better as they set your body to withstand and resist more stress. Even your heart and lungs start working more efficiently and provide energy to fuel your new found strength.
 
Given below are 3 Bodyweight exercises. Try them and be amazed to see the results that follow!
 
 
Push Ups (3 sets of 10 push ups each)
 
o         Lie down on the floor with your face towards the floor.

o         Place your hands as wide as you comfortably can. 

o         Your body should be in one straight line from your feet to your head.

o         Start lowering your upper body by bending your elbows.

o         Go as low as you can and then pause there for a second or so before pushing up again.

o         For added difficulty, try squeezing your stomach and buttocks to increase the intensity and effect of these push ups.
 
 
Crunches (3 sets of 10 crunches each)
 
o         Lie down on the floor with your face towards the ceiling.

o         Your legs should be straight out and your feet should be about six inches above the floor.

o         Now lightly clasp your hands behind your head but do not pull.

o         Touch your right elbow to your left knee and then your left elbow to your right knee.

o         Do this at a brisk speed.

o         Don't let your feet touch the floor at any time during the exercise.
 
 
Squat (3 sets of 15 repetitions each)
 
o         You should be in a standing position with your feet about shoulder width apart.

o         Your arms should be extended forward to balance.

o         Squat till your buttocks are half way down. Your knees should never bend more than 90 degrees.

o         Keep your feet flat and firm on the floor.

o         Stand back up.
 
 
Perform these exercises at least 3 times a week. Fix up any time that’s good for you, but just make sure to to do them. Do a set of each exercise one after another and then take a break of not more than 2 minutes. Remember these exercises should be done with lots of intensity and the pace should be brisk. If you are slow the results will be slow as well! Speed up now and lose those unwanted love handles.
