If you are the type of person who likes to rough it but still needs his essential data around, the Transcend StoreJet Mobile is just for you. With a whopping storage capacity of 320 GB this external hard drive is a great tool for mobile data management.

Features

With a storage space of 320 GB, the StoreJet Mobile is an external HDD with one of the highest storage capacities today. The drive comes with StoreJet Elite, which is software used for backing up data, restoring backed up data, file compression and even encrypting files. This software is used in tandem with the one-touch backup button on the drive. All you have to do is set up a backup task in the software and press the button: the process will begin automatically. The drive comes encased in thick rubber, which prevents it from being damaged due to shock. We even dropped it a few times, but it still worked just fine.

Performance

We used synthetic benchmarks from Everest to calculate the linear read/write and random read times, and SiSoft Sandra to calculate the sequential read/write, random read/write and Drive Index. We also timed the transfer of a single and multiple files totaling 1 GB as real-world tests. The drive clocked in impressive timings of 41.72 seconds for a single 1 GB file and 74.37 seconds for the multiple files. For a detailed score sheet, see the table below.

Verdict

The Transcend StoreJet Mobile offers humongous storage capacity, good backup options and of course the very effective shock-resistant design. Quite a winner, we say.
